Why is it that when you go into Boots for just one thing, you end up coming away with a lot more than you intended?! Classic example happened to me last week when I popped into Boots on my lunch break to pick up the Sleek Cream Contour Kit which I had my eye on for a couple of weeks (did you see my beauty wish list? Find it here), but all of a sudden I had my hands full with all sorts of beauty goodies. Here’s what I ended up picking up –
Sleek Cream Contour Kit & Sleek Face Form Contouring & Blush Palette – As you know if you saw my beauty wish list a couple of weeks ago, I had my eye on this for a while so as soon as pay day hit I picked it up. When I reached the Sleek section in the makeup aisles, there was an offer of buy one product, get one half price – well it would be rude if I didn’t take advantage wouldn’t it?! As I was picking up a contour kit, I wanted to get some sort of blush palette however they had all sold out. Instead I opted for the Sleek Contouring and Blush Palette. Bit excessive on the contour products I know, but I thought this was a really nice little kit which has a powder contour, highlight and blush all in one – perfect for travelling!
Soap & Glory Pillow Plump Lip Gloss – I have a lot of matte lipsticks in my makeup collection which I love, but sometimes I’m looking for something a bit glossier. Rather than buying new lipsticks, I can just add a clear gloss over the top on matte lipsticks for the same desired effect. Now, I haven’t brought a clear lip gloss since I was at school (remember the days where you could only get away with wearing clear lipgloss at school – ha!), but fancied trying something that could maybe enhance my lips. I therefore opted to give the Soap & Glory plump gloss a go. These glosses have something in the formula which makes your lips tingle and buzz to make your lips appear more fuller. I’ll let you know if it really works…
Ecotools Precision Blush Brush – I picked this up as my Real Techniques expert face brush fell apart for the third time…really not happy, but more on that another day! So I needed a similar style brush but wanted to trying something from another brand. I then found this down the makeup brush aisle. Its similar to the expert face brush – same kinda of density, fluffiness only it’s more of an oval shape rather than a rounded brush. It does however do the job of applying my liquid foundation which is great but I think the shape of this brush will also be perfect to use with my cream contour palette too!
Denman Dressing Out Brush – I used to have one of these brushes years ago when it was really popular to back comb your hair (think Amy Winehouse beehive days!) and although I’m not looking to massively back comb my hair, my hair is currently looking for flat as its due for another haircut. I thought I would pick another one of these brushes up again, just for those days when I’m looking for a tad more volume.
Have you tried any of these products before?
It dawned on me in the shower last week that over the last four years there has always been at least one Soap & Glory product in my shower routine. Whether it be a shower gel, an exfoliator, an in-shower cream, Soap & Glory have always been on top of my list for in-shower pampering. Their products not only feel amazing but smell divine! So, I thought I would share with you what I’m currently loving from Soap & Glory –
Soap & Glory Clean on Me Shower Gel – I think everyone has heard on this shower gel as it’s a classic from the Soap & Glory range. I don’t always buy this as my normal shower gel because it’s a little bit more money that I am willing to spend on a shower gel (usually £6.50 for 500ml) but I tend to always find this little beauty under the Christmas tree in a gift set which always pleases me! You do however get a large bottle for your money so I do think it’s worth it for a treat. Plus again, it smells amazing!
Soap & Glory Smoothie Oat, Sugar & Shea Breakfast Scrub – This is my 2nd or 3rd pot now. First of all, the scrub is one of the best I’ve used because it contains Shea butter, so whilst you are exfoliating, the scrub leaves your skin moisturised still. Best of all however is the smell!! Oh my goodness, you could eat the damn stuff it smells so good (please don’t though!). It’s a maple scent with bananas, almonds and honey added to the mix too, so if you aren’t a fan of the sweet scents maybe give the Sugar Crush scrub a go as its more citrus smelling.
Soap & Glory Exfoliating Gloves – This is most recent purchase from Soap & Glory. Although I love the Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub, I use it more of a treat during my Sunday pamper routines. With the Sun slowly making more of appearance nowadays however, I want my skin permanently silky and shining, so tend to use these gloves with the Soap & Glory Clean on Me Shower Gel during the week. These are just the right amount of scrubbiness (it’s a word, ok!), if you know what I mean. They aren’t to hash on the skin but it’s enough to give your skin a buff to leave your limps glowing. They also last a long time too. Other exfoliating gloves I’ve tried in the past (generally cheap ones) has fallen apart have a couple of uses, but after a month they are still holding their shape.

I have tried a lot of high-street make up in my time – and by high-street I mean, make up you find in Boots or Superdrug. My make up bag usual would have been filled with a lot of Bourjois, Rimmel or L’oreal however I’ve notice is fast becoming more filled with Soap & Glory. A brand originally famous for their amazing bath and body products, now have their own make up line and they are fantastic! Here are top three picks you need to try from Soap & Glory –
Supercat Eyeliner Pen – I am probably on my 5th eyeliner pen from Soap & Glory. I love a winged eyeliner and this pen makes it really easy. I had heard some mixed reviews on this eyeliner, people often saying it smudged and dragged along the lash line but once I tried it out for myself I found very much the opposite. It’s long lasting, easy to use and it’s the blackest black eyeliner I’ve come across. Admittedly, when my lids are particularly oily I do find some transfer with this eyeliner so something to bear in mind, but at £6 it’s a steal and definitely worth trying.
One Heck of a Blot Powder – When it comes to powder I’ve always been a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural kinda gal, but after hearing some really good things about the Soap & Glory powders I wanted to give this a go – and I think it’s great! For one thing I really love the packaging as it comes with mirror (something I found annoying the MAC Mineralize powders), but I also find this is just as good as the MAC’s powders, plus its half the price at £12!
Kiss Ass Concealer – I’ll admit, I only picked this up as when I brought the One Heck of a Blot Powder, Boots were running some sort of offer (either buy one get one free, or buy one get on half price – can’t quite remember) so ended up giving the concealer a go. This is a three piece kit – one colour for under the eye, the other designed for any blemishes and a setting powder. I have to say this is the most premium feeling concealer I have tried from the high street (similar to Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier), it feels creamy with high coverage – another product I would definitely recommend.
