Hot Cloth Cleansers battle – Liz Earle vs. Your Good Skin

If you saw my monthly favourites post last week, you would have seen me declaring my love to the Your Good Skin Nourishing Hot Cloth Cleanser. So much so, it’s quickly becoming my favourite ahead of my beloved Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser…I know, it’s shocked me too! To give you a more detailed review of this new discovery, I thought I would give you a comparison of the two hot cloth cleansers sharing why there might be a new favourite in town….

The Formula: With both being hot cloth cleansers, the formulas are still quite different. In comparison to the Liz Earle cleanser, the Your Good Skin cleanser is definitely more of a creamy consistency. For my skin as it tends to be on the more drier side, I do prefer this over Liz Earle’s more dense texture. To be honest I haven’t seen much of a difference in how my skin has reacted – my skin seems to love both cleanser. And after reviewing the ingredients list of them both, they are fairly similar. Liz Earle however do also offer a couple of variations of their hot cloth cleanser which is quite nice. The one in the photo is their Rose and Lavender edition which I do prefer over the original formula in the teal bottle.

Packaging: As you can see from the photos, both cleansers come in different packaging. The Your Good Skin Cleanser comes in a squeezy tube, whilst the Liz Earle cleanser comes in an opaque, solid tube with a pump. The one thing that always annoyed me with the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser was the bottle because you struggled to tell when you were running low, then all of a sudden you squeezed your last pump and were needing to make an emergency dash to Boots to re-stock. The packaging of the Your Good Skin cleanser means it’s easier to tell when you are running low and you can also remove the lid to be able to squeeze the last of the remaining product out. With my first bottle I’ve even manage to get the scissors to this bottle to make sure every last scrap was used up. Whereas with the Liz Earle bottle, I did always worry about wasting any leftover cleanser. The one pro for the Liz Earle bottle however is the pump as it means you have way more control on how much you are using, whereas with the Your Good Skin cleanser you can tend to squeeze a bit too much out of the tube.

Price: When it comes down to price, Your Good Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser is great value compared to the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser. The Good Skin cleanser is £8.99 (125ml) vs. Liz Earle’s cleanser at £15.00 (100ml). It’s also worth noting that the Your Good Skin range tends to be on offer very regularly at Boots; either on a ⅓ off or on a 3 for 2 deal.

I have to admit the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser will still always hold a special place in my heart (I’ve easily gone through nearly 15 bottles of the stuff!) and I will no doubt still always have a bottle of this in my bathroom cabinet (old habits die hard!), but as a regular cleanser in my daily routine, I will be reaching out for the Your Good Skin Nourishing Hot Cloth Cleanser. I’ve also been trying out some more products from the Your Good Skin range, so will let you know if I find any more gems!

Have you tried the Your Good Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser yet? Or anything else from the Your Good Skin range?
